How to Manage Negative/Disagreeable Employees

Sunday, July 9 | 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Presenter: Brenda Rinehart

Our work environment would be so much better if everyone could just get on board and remain positive through the entire rollercoaster ride of life, but that is impossible for anyone, ourselves included. We are expected to have ups and downs in life and this is reflected in our moods, motivations, and desires. What happens when life’s ups and downs become far more negative and unbalanced? We begin to experience life through a different lens and this results in a chronically negative attitude. It is important to understand that everyone comes from a different place with different emotions, experiences, and expectations. All of these things, along with our personalities color our attitudes.

This course is designed to provide some new skills for managing chronically negative employees while maintaining our positivity. The course will focus on distinguishing between negative situations and chronically negative employees, the role authentic leadership serves in managerial perceptions, understanding what toxic positivity is and how it impacts the work environment, the role our personality plays in communication and perceptions, and how world events have shaped our current work culture. When applied, these new skills should improve communication and the work environment, and have a positive impact on employee retention.
