Using the AHRA Published article "How Many Projects is Too Many - Working Through the Perfect Storm", I would show the processes and tools used to manage an overwhelming situation. Included in the conversation would be a focus on employee engagement, staff education of new processes/programs, selecting/using subject matter experts (SME), ways to engage the administration in the processes, use of RFP/RFQ for new products, and engaging vendors in the processes. Examples of how to validate RFP/RFQ data for value and engage technical staff and providers in evaluating options during the purchasing process would be discussed. Examples of some of the tools used (i.e. evaluation data from staff and providers used in decision-making, comparisons between vendors, etc.) would be shared. Priority setting (i.e. for each project as well as the overall management of all simultaneous projects) would be discussed, with critical timeline establishment as a key.
Learning Objectives:
... understand the concept of prioritization of project management and how to prioritize critical elements when faced with multiple deadlines.
... understand some of the tools used in the decision making processes for major projects, and how to engage stakeholders in the process.
...identify subject matter experts for the project(s) and engaging them in the process, telling the 'story' to administration about the criticality of the situation and gain their support.
...use concepts associated with the CRA designation in managing through multiple projects and/or situations
